It's been a while and I haven't felt that much in my life is very passionate to write about...until now.
To say the Cubs have looked sad and pathetic the last two days....would be an understatement. The first game, Lou made a HUGE blunder when he didn't even START warming up the bullpen until the grand slam almost came - bad considering Dumpster was not having the night of his life. The second game was filled with errors from all angles and downright pathetic playing - does ANYONE remember how to hit?
How can a fan continue to root, root, root for a team that doesn't look like a playoffs team and quite frankly, looks disinterested to even be there? I don't think this has much to do with a "curse" this year, but rather with the overconfidence that surely this being the 100th anniversary this WAS the year of the Cub. Unfortunately, these wallopings give no indication that the Cubs can ACTUALLY go to the World Series, but I guess they get at least one more chance on Saturday.
It also should come as no surprise that my friend, Bethany, and her sister, have both been pregnant during previous Cubs postseasons, only to find that the Cubs lose. I may not be related, but it sure seems like the trend is continuing. Bethany is convinced that if the Cubs do lose, the least I can do is name one child after the team...Addison or Wrigley - here we come! Unfortunately, I wonder if the team even deserves such a namesake...
