Crazy World.

A couple of news pieces that I'm particularly interested in:

1. Daughter writes essay for concert tickets to see Hannah Montana concert. Opening line, "My daddy died in Iraq this year." Girl wins tickets. Mother reveals that the line was a lie. No father in Iraq, No father died. She says she did what she had to do to make her daughter's dream come true. In a statement this morning, she said, "I never meant to deceive anyone." Are you kidding me? That's EXACTLY what you meant to do. Your life story wasn't "good" enough, so you made one up. Thoughts?

2. Britney Spears. Custody Battle. Refusing to give kids back to the "better" parent, Kevin Federline. Are you serious? She's gone off the deep end (like we didn't know that). With having first-hand knowledge of situations like this, I'm disturbed. These kids should be removed from her care and visitations should be canceled for now! Yikes, 2007-2008, the year Britney completely broke down. I can only hope that things don't end tragically for her...

Discuss.

obviously these parents have some messed up priorities.

part of the problem with Parent #1 is that she thinks the ends justifies the means. she "meant" to get tickets. that was her primary goal. deceiving everyone else was secondary and therefore not "meant". it's ridiculous.

and why doesn't someone tell this lady that these tickets are for Hannah Montana? i'm not sure what's worse: lying to get tickets or wanting the tickets in the first place.

as for Britney... i suppose it doesn't surprise me. she needs to do whatever it takes to stay in the ET, Extra, TMZ, etc. spotlight. why do we keep enabling these people?

I'd heard that story about the woman who helped her daughter write the winning essay.

War disgusts me, and it makes me angry that kids do lose their parents because they're off fighting in said war. It frustrates me that there are people who would take advantage of a situation like that, which is a real situation for some other child out there (who might also like to go to Hannah Montana?).

The mom said she lied because her daughter's dream was to see Hannah Montana. Well, mine might have been to see New Kids on the Block when I was that age, but it's no reason to lie, cheat and steal. Let's face it, sometimes, you're going to have to dissappoint your children. And, you know what? They're turn out better for it. This girl would have been so much better off if she'd written a legitamite essay and lost than she is now.

I really hope they take legal action against the mother to set an example.

I know, I just don't get half of this stuff...
It saddens me, but you gotta think, people are a product of their environment.
This mother was clearly not taught how wrong lying is... now she is teaching her daughter to live a dishonest life. Maybe the reprocussions will have an effect on this little girl's future, we can only hope.
What kind of a mother is this?? anger and frustration!!! How did this happen??
Same thing with our pop star... look at the kinds of parenting decisions HER folks made... so, tell me.... how is she supposed to know any different... I am not making an excuse for anyone... what I want to know is where does it stop?
And how do you interject?
Probably just prayer! Poor Brittany Just wants to be loved. How sad.... now she doesn't know how to show her own children love... you see? Where does it stop? We are in no position to judge, they really just don't understand! If they did would they put themselves in these positions? Maybe, I don't know

The Hannah Montana scheme was just wrong, no arguments there.

I also agree that Britney should not have custody rights (for obvious reasons) However, I'm not so sure I agree with the whole "no visitation" rights. I do believe the visitations need to be supervised, but to kick a mother out of her kids' life is just plain mean and doesn't help things.
