I had the opportunity to talk to two of my favorite friends last night. I went to dinner with one of them and then called another after I was done. They both minister to me in different ways and I appreciate their honesty and humor.
In this big old ball of life, it's nice to know that there are people who are on the sidelines cheering you on and who at times help to carry you over the finish line.
I've been in a funk lately. I've taken a trip to Negative Town and can't seem to get off the train. Jim gave me some great advice, "Samantha, what if you're walking through a thick forest and freedom is just through the trees, just a few steps away? If you stop now, you'll never get out; but perhaps if you just keep walking you're actually almost there."
Something's gotta give. I know too many people in my life that are just waiting for the big release, the big break. My prayer today is that our big break is coming and that we have the courage to just keep walking.
Today, I choose to step off that train. in faith. and with Him.

Samantha I love the new template!
I know how hard it is when it feels like you are getting beat down time and time again.
One word that I always think about when rough waters hit is:
Tenacious (a): persistent in maintaining, adhering to, or seeking something valued or desired. Tenacity can apply to everything in life: Faith, love hope, dreams. I tend to think of it as a verb instead of an adjective because it takes persistance to be tenacious. One of the reasons that we fall down in life is so that we can learn how to get back up again. The more times it happens, the faster we recover. Soon enough we are always standing. Jesus is always there to help us to our feet.
When you are scaling mountains, you eventually get to the top. Once there, you get one heck of a view.
Thanks, Mike!
Ooh, everything is pink! I love it.
I'm not saying this advice is easy to take (I'm not always good at following it, myself). Sometimes, though, you just need to *choose* to be happy. It sounds like a load, but it's the truth.
There are things we can't control in life. Sometimes, people die, or other difficult problems arrise. When that happens, I think you do need to stop and experience the emotions that come, even if that means hurting for a while.
Other times, we need to choose to feel happy with our lives. Outside forces can temporarily make you happy (hurray, a party. Hurray, a nice friend. Hurray, husband cleaned the house). But those things are short lived until you change your attitude on life.
I could be unhappy most of the time, if I wanted to be. I could think about all the crappy things that happen to me and to the world. I could think about my crappy boss, or about people getting old, or whatever.
Conversely, I could be happy most of the time by thinking positively and the positive things that come my way.
Hopefully, this trick will be able to work for you, too.
i heard your friend that you went out to dinner with is AWESOME! :)
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the scarf. I am wearing it to church tomorrow..I don't care if its 75degrees.
Samantha you are always so fun and exciting to be around... I am looking forward to seeing that added bounce in your step! Sometimes you just gotta bull through it! I can relate!
I'll pray that God lifts the weight off your shoulders and plants a smile on your face! (Sorry for sounding cheesy)
